Most art colleges want to see a portfolio of prospective students work. Putting together this body of work can be quite daunting whether you’re a mature student or facing the leaving certificate. Alison takes students on a one-to-one basis for their portfolio construction to ensure the student represent themselves in the best possible light. In Ireland, NCAD (The National College for Art and Design) have an early submission date, 7th, 8th and 9th February 2018. Their portfolio guidelines were changed again for this year. These guidelines are to promote skills, creativity and interests. They should show the college what a great student you’d make. Sometimes it can be hard to understand what the college intend in some of their requirements/suggestions. The portfolio is quite different to the leaving certificate and many secondary school teachers are reluctant to spend time on portfolios when students need that time to pass exams. Alison will guide you through these steps and teach you the necessary drawing and painting skills along the way.
Nearly all of Alisons students have been accepted to Art college (there was this one student 25 years ago who wasn’t!).
